First of all, coming into the football fandom alone and be accepted too is like a dream come true. At least for me it is. I’ve never had this kind of connection with so many people at once, because even though we argue, we fight and maybe even talk bad about each other’s clubs, then at the end of the day, when we look around us, it has been a pretty good day after all, because people understood you and people listened. I can only speak for myself, but this feeling is even larger and feels even better when it comes to supporting Liverpool. I know everyone will say these things about their club. Chelsea fans will say the same things. Man United fans will say the same things. Arsenal fans will say the same things. Barcelona fans will say the same things. Real Madrid fans will say the same things. Atlético Madrid fans will say the same things. FC Copenhagen fans will say the same things. Hell even the fans of my “local” club, Viborg FF will say these things. Fans are there for their club. They love them to no end. I can only tell you about Liverpool and Barcelona. Those are my clubs. The ones that mean the world to me. But it’s no secret that even though Barcelona means the world to me, then Liverpool means just a bit more. I can’t explain why, I can just feel it in my heart. You need to believe me when I tell you that Liverpool is a club worth loving, supporting, crying for, cheering for. Liverpool is worth it all and these are just a few reasons.
The fans
Liverpool’s fans are known around the world. We’re known for our support, known for our voice. The fans are the 12th man on the pitch. The strength the fans can, will and does give this club is extraordinary. The best example will always be May 25th at the Atatürk Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey. After hard work and effort Liverpool was in the Champions League finale against A.C Milan. When the first half of the game was done, the score was 3 - 0 to Milan. Red hearts around the globe were breaking, but then the voice of the Reds sounded, and our anthem was sung. You’ll Never Walk Alone sounded everywhere in the stadium. It reached everyone there, including the players.
Then the second half began and at the 54th minute our captain, Steven Gerrard scored.
2 minutes later Vladimír Šmicer scored.
2 minutes later again Xabi Alonso scored.
The score was now 3 - 3 and it was held like that for the rest of the half.
Extra time was played and the score stayed 3 - 3.
The ref blew the whistle. This championship would be decided by a penalty shootout. Milan’s Sergio Santos, Andrea Pirlo and Andriy Schevchenko missed, leaving only Kaká and Jon Dahl to score. Only one Liverpool player, John Arne Riise, missed his penalty, leaving Dietmar Hamann, Djibril Cissé and Vladimír Šmicer to score.
Liverpool had won.
I think the fans played a big part that night. If it hadn’t been for the fans, that traveled to Turkey to cheer our boys on, I don’t believe we would have won.
The 12th man is not to be underestimated. Never, ever.
The history
In my opinion you will never find a club with a better, more exciting and amazing history. The things this club has gone through, the players that has played here, the managers that has been here, the owners, we’ve had, both good and bad.
You’ll never be bored and no matter how bad it’s all going, you’ll always be proud to be a fan. Proud to support this club. Proud to call yourself a Red and no matter if your favorites leave, you’ll always stick with this club, because the club comes first and frankly, with a club like Liverpool, - how could it not?
Anfield
There’s not much to say. Anfield is Anfield. Anfield is my own private place of dreams. It’s a place, I dream of going. A place I dream of seeing. A place I dream of. A place I call home.
It’s a stadium where so many games have been played there. So much talent has walked there, talked there, run there and won there.
But that’s not all. There’s so many things to love about Anfield. The mentality there, the will to win. One of my favorite things about Anfield is the Paisley and Shankly Gates. The gates that pay a tribute to two men that meant the world to this club. To two men who are legends. Burning red legends. And my favorite of the gates, are the Shankly Gates. The gates with our famous anthem and motto. Those gates are a place I wanna stand, a place I wanna look at with my own two, blue eyes and a place I would like to cherish. Another thing is the famous, ‘This is Anfield’ sign, that hangs above the stairs that leads down to the pitch. It has been hung there to scare and intimidate the opposing team, but also to motivate our own boys. They say that all the players and staff touch the sign as they walk below it. It’s said to give good luck to whoever touches it.
My favorite thing at Anfield however, is The Kop. When the Kop rises to it’s feet, when the Kop sings our songs. When the Kop lifts our boys even higher, that’s when I know Anfield is the place we belong. The place I belong.
This is Anfield. This is home.

The anthem
You’ll Never Walk Alone is a song and motto known world wide. For Liverpool fans it’s a song, it’s an anthem, but also a way of life. A way to keep hope.
I love You’ll Never Walk Alone, because no matter what I can turn to that song and those lyrics. No matter what they’ll make me smile. Sometimes through tears and pain, but always a smile. Always hope. Just as the song says, - walk on with hope in your heart and you’ll never walk alone.
And it’s true, at the end of every storm, there is a golden sky. You just have to walk on. Through every storm, every drop of rain and every wind. Your dreams will be tossed and blown, but walk on. Walk on.
Always, forever, till the end, - walk on.
The mentality
This club has a mentality like no one else. No matter what keep on fighting, keep going strong and don’t ever give up. The mentality is strong. The emotions are worn outside the clothes at times and whether it’s sadness or happiness the feeling is strong, but one of my favorite things about this club is that when it’s all going to hell and it all looks hopeless, then the fans will turn to each other. Reds help each other out, love each other and will never give up on each other. They’ll help each other keeping this mentality alive. They’ll walk side by side, shoulder by shoulder and hip by hip. Together we are many, together we are strong.
It’s worth it.
You’ll know it. From the first second to the day you die. You’ll never regret it. No matter how much it may hurt at times, Liverpool will always have a special place in your heart. And listen to me when I tell you that if you don’t realize now, what this club is and what it’ll mean to you, and wait days, months, maybe years, you’ll regret it. Trust me. I regret not realizing there was such a beautiful world before now. One of my biggest regrets is not seeing Xabi, Alvaro and Sami in our jersey. The biggest you ask? Not being there in 2005. Not being there to cheer them on. Not being there to show them how proud I would’ve been, how proud I am and how proud I’ll always be.
You’ve got to trust me. When you watch a game at Anfield and you hear our anthem blast through the speakers, you’ll be sure. You’ll get chills. When you see the Kop rise to their feet and you’ll hear their voices roar, you’ll know that we are strong and that no one can break us. This club was, is and will always be. This is Liverpool.
This is life.
